Chair Hudson questions DHS on infectious disease prevention
Hudson asks about preventing illness in congregate shelters. DHS says prevention is key, with vaccination reminders, winter coat checks, and single-occupancy isolation rooms.
Okay, large congregate shelters create an increased risk for the spread of infectious disease, especially during cold and flu season.
What measures does DHS take to help prevent the spread of illness?
Thank you.
So prevention is key.
So we work with our providers to make sure that through routine engagement with the clients that they're serving, that reminders about getting
vaccinations, going to the doctor, staying healthy, dressing appropriately if we see somebody leaving the facility without a winter coat.
in the winter to make sure that people do not contract a contagious illness.
If they were to, we do have single occupancy isolation rooms to keep that from spreading.
Thank you so much for that.
