Long and Jimenez on preventive care and colorectal screening rates

New York City Council · Oct 28, 2026 · starts 1:38:07 · 57 sec

Long and Jimenez cite colorectal cancer screening rates: 77% of NYC Care members versus 78% for the general population. Jimenez says this shows H&H treats everyone the same and achieves health equity.

Dr. Ted Long

So on the preventive care side, we break it down into two buckets.

Dr. Ted Long

There's chronic disease prevention and treatment, and there's prevention like vaccines, cancer prevention, things like that.

Dr. Ted Long

In the first category, the numbers I shared, I think, show that we do very well with chronic disease, with prevention of your chronic disease getting bad such that you have to go to the emergency room or be admitted to the hospital.

Dr. Ted Long

And the data shows that.

Dr. Ted Long

On the other side of how do we do with preventive care, I thought Dr.

Dr. Ted Long

Jimenez shared a really good number.

Dr. Ted Long

Maybe you could share again the colorectal cancer screening number.

Dr. Jonathan Jimenez

Oh, yes.

Dr. Jonathan Jimenez

For colorectal cancer screening, we have 77% of our NYC care members have completed their colorectal cancer screening.

Dr. Jonathan Jimenez

And for our general population, for everyone, 78% is essentially the same.

Dr. Jonathan Jimenez

So going back to what we were talking about, we're seeing the same outcomes because we treat everyone the same.

Mercedes Narcisse

So you're doing it.

Mercedes Narcisse

Thank you.

Mercedes Narcisse

Let's keep on doing it for NRC here.
