Long on financial counselors and a system-wide volunteer program
Long says H&H is seeking to create a system-wide volunteer program that would satisfy Medicaid work requirements, noting programs currently exist at individual hospitals like Bellevue. He says he will follow up with Dr. Katz.
Great question.
So to back up for a second to put this on the record, one of the rules that's very important that we're going to play is how do you know what programs qualify?
Who are you going to ask?
Who are you going to call?
So the answer to that is we have a phone number to reach our financial counselors.
So a very important first step is, as you're thinking about what you might want to do, talk to one of our financial counselors.
They'll let you know what qualifies.
They'll walk you through it, and you can make a plan together.
Okay.
So once you've done that, this is a, I would say,
stage of work in progress.
So I will follow up with Dr.
Katz about this.
We are seeking to create a system-wide volunteer program that would qualify as satisfying your Medicaid work requirements.
Right now, we do have programs that exist at a smaller scale, but are hospital by hospital.
So like Bellevue has a program.
But we are seeking to, as one of the things
seeing the crisis looming in the distance, that we could do to be ready is to try to create either a system-wide program or a clear connection based on where you are to the most applicable program to you.
