Q&A

Brewer asks Sidahmed for his vision and a website update

New York City Council · Oct 28, 2026 · starts 0:28:09 · 1 min 16 sec

Brewer asks what Sidahmed's vision is for the office and notes the website is outdated. Sidahmed says he wants agencies to see community media as central to their missions and wants publisher input before making changes.

My other question is, what's your vision for the office?

Gale A. Brewer

I mean, even the website, as you probably know, is outdated.

Gale A. Brewer

Mazen Sidahmed

who see Local Law 83 as a transformative law, that it could be a law that has, as I mentioned, compounding benefits for New York City agencies and for the city as a whole.

Mazen Sidahmed

Mazen Sidahmed

This is critical for you to execute on your mission, whatever New York City agency you are, and work with the publishers to help them tell their story internally to different city agencies, help city agencies meet publishers and understand that,

Mazen Sidahmed

okay, this publisher reaches the majority of this specific community that you need to reach for your program to succeed, and really help

Mazen Sidahmed

lift up the importance of these community assets across New York so New Yorkers can really see their value.
