Menin presses Sidahmed for overall mayoral ad budget
Menin asks for the total mayoral agency advertising budget so the 50% target can be measured. Sidahmed says he is collecting media-buyer reports and agency data for the FY26 report; Menin calls it a basic number and urges him to deliver it quickly.
I mean, just to be clear, the law was incredibly successful.
It's now been gutted.
So that is why we're having this hearing, because we're deeply concerned about what is happening now.
What is the overall current advertising budget of the mayoral city agency?
So when we're talking about 50% going to the community and ethnic, what is that overall amount?
So I've been hired actually to do that report and try and understand that exact thing.
So in my first few weeks in the job, I've been reaching out to the different media buyers to get reports from each of them on where they placed.
Ads over the past FY26.
I need to collect all of those reports and then take them back to each individual agency to understand if those line up with their internal data.
And then I should
be able to publish all of that information in the FY26 report?
I mean, I just think this is honestly concerning that we don't have that number.
I mean, that is a very basic number.
I mean, I say this as someone who is commissioner of several agencies.
It's that each agency has their advertising budget, and it's a very straightforward number.
So this should not take a long time to do.
We would urge you to get that number to the council, to this committee, as soon as possible, because this should be very, very basic what that number is.
