Council Member Gennaro Discusses Resolution 8: Lead Service Line Replacement Funding
Council Member Jim Gennaro discusses Resolution 8, calling on state agencies to fairly allocate federal infrastructure funds to New York City for lead service line replacement.
I'm not ready, Majority Leader.
No problem.
I am now going to recognize Councilmember Gennaro and a friendly reminder to the members.
Resolutions discussion is one minute.
Oh, okay.
Uh uh thank you, madam.
Madam Majority Leader.
Uh I'm I'm speaking about resolution eight, uh, the fair financing for lead service line replacements.
Uh, everyone knows that there's a federal bipartisan um infrastructure law that uh provided monies for this and other good purposes.
Uh the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation uses uh um formulas that freeze out New York City, and we get pennies uh of what the rest of the uh people in the state get.
Uh this would which time uh this would um this would change that.
Um so we're urging the um environmental facilities corporation to adopt much more uh fair guidelines um uh of the of the uh of the hundreds of millions of dollars uh that were uh uh um allocated for this uh New York City only got six million dollars.
Uh I could go on and on, um, but we're cheated by the um environmental facilities corporation and uh enough is enough.
The federal government allocated this money, we should get it.
Thank you very much.
