Amanda C. Farías

Thank you, Reverend Keating.

Amanda C. Farías

I would now ask Councilmember Justin Brennan to spread the invocation on the record.

Justin L. Brannan

Thank you, Majority Leader.

Justin L. Brannan

Thank you, Reverend Keating, for your invitation.

Justin L. Brannan

The very Reverend Patrick J.

Justin L. Brannan

Keating is a devoted servant and leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.

Justin L. Brannan

He served as deputy CEO of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens and CEO of the Catholic Migration Services.

Justin L. Brannan

Reverend Keating, you lead with compassion every day, and this council thanks you for it.

Justin L. Brannan

It's an honor to have the Reverend with us today as we join the world in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, a spiritual giant, and a relentless advocate for the poor, and a moral compass for so many.

Justin L. Brannan

Pope Francis reminded the world that faith and action means standing with the poor, the marginalized, and the forgotten.

Justin L. Brannan

His legacy is one of humility, compassion, challenging the status quo, and speaking uncomfortable truths to power, and never losing sight of the dignity in every single human being.

Justin L. Brannan

The legacy that Pope Francis leaves us is not just words, but a challenge to do better, to be better for the least among us, for each other.

Justin L. Brannan

It's not just about going to church on Sunday, it's about what you do and how you treat others during the rest of the week.

Justin L. Brannan

Before you talk about your faith, show it to us and how you treat other people.

Justin L. Brannan

May his memory be a blessing and may we rise to meet the call he's left behind.

Justin L. Brannan

Madam Majority Leader, I thank once again thank the very Reverend Patrick J.

Justin L. Brannan

Keating, and I make a motion for unanimous consent to spread the invocation in full upon the record.

Justin L. Brannan

Thank you.
