Speaker Adams Pays Tribute to Exenia Met
Speaker Adrienne Adams begins her communications by acknowledging the tragic death of Exenia Met, a beloved Harlem grandmother who was killed by a stray bullet while trying to stop neighborhood violence.
Thank you, Madam Majority Leader, and good afternoon, everyone.
Before we begin, I want to acknowledge the senseless death of Exenia Met, also known as Zini, who was struck in the head by a stray bullet as she rushed outside of her apartment in Harlem to try to stop the violence she heard.
Zini was a grandmother known throughout her neighborhood as a pillar of the community, and our heart breaks at the loss of life for this innocent bystander who wanted nothing more than to stop the violence.
And the survivors who are working to recover from the effects of the fire.
