Lee on reports of canceled World Cup watch parties

Over a month ago, the Streets blog reported that there have been watch parties that had been canceled.

Is that true?

Or city events that have been scaled down by any chance?

Well, you know, what I'll say is for myself, like coming into this role and realizing that the World Cup was five, six months away, it's a lot.

And so a lot of these conversations and planning have been happening in a very dynamic, real-time way.

Multiple agencies are involved, and there's a lot of different pieces.

So everything's been kind of, you know.

It's been dynamic, but we're excited with where we've landed.

We think it's going to be a wonderful series of activities.

and events for New Yorkers.

Was it DOT's decision to scale down events, or is that a different agency?

There was no final set of events that was scaled down.

Like I said, it's a lot of conversations and planning that have been happening in real time.
