Good afternoon and welcome to the FY 2027 Executive Budget Hearing for the Committee on Oversight Investigations.

Shekar Krishnan

I'm Councilmember Shekar Krishnan, Chair of the Committee on Oversight Investigations.

Shekar Krishnan

I want to thank Finance Chair Councilmember Linda Lee for joining me today, along with all my colleagues who are here in reviewing the Department of Investigations FY 27 Executive Budget to understand the needs of this crucial department and the role the staff play in oversight of New York City.

Shekar Krishnan

Commissioner, thank you so much for your testimony today and for the whole DOI team who is here as well and for your work every single day to ensure that we root out corruption and fraud in our city government and ensure that it's performing to its highest standards.

Shekar Krishnan

I see this committee and its partnership with the Department of Investigation to be a powerful tool in rooting out corruption and a way to hold anyone or anything accountable that takes advantage of New Yorkers.

Shekar Krishnan

DOI is vital to this effort, vital to ensuring we can protect New Yorkers from greedy corporations, bad landlords, and to root out corruption in city government.

Shekar Krishnan

Together, we are fighting to restore trust in our government and prove to New Yorkers that our city fights for you and serves you.

Shekar Krishnan

Without fear and without favor.
