CM Cabán questions OMB on gender-affirming care funding
Councilmember Cabán asks about contingency plans for federal threats to gender-affirming care, particularly for youth. Solomon notes $15 million added for gender-affirming care in prelim budget. Cabán responds that advocates say $60 million is needed, with specific gaps in youth services.
Thank you very much, Chair.
I know that we're tight on time, so I'm going to ask both of my questions up front.
They're very different topics, so I apologize for that, but I'm going to start with a question on gender-affirming care.
I'd like to know what policies and resources OMB is prioritizing ahead of adoption as a contingency plan because of the federal government threats to further protect gender-affirmative care in the city, particularly for youth.
And then my other question has to do with IMT and ACT.
