Wilson questions CEC on knowledge transfer practices

New York City Council · Jun 22, 2026 · starts 1:11:52 · 1 min 5 sec

Wilson asks what practices CEC is exploring to help boards maintain institutional knowledge during member transitions. Saeed and Benjamin Salter describe potential citywide and borough-wide gatherings for departing members to share knowledge with incoming members, working with borough presidents.

Carl Wilson

And you mentioned you're working to assist the boards with the transitions for the term limits for the members.

Carl Wilson

Are there certain practices that you're looking to help them with to maintain that knowledge on the board?

Sarah Saeed

I think so far we've just been talking about, and I'll let Benjamin comment as well, we've just been talking about

Sarah Saeed

opportunities for people who are well-versed to share their best practices and how we can arrange those kinds of forums as the CEC in our role and support working with the future of community boards.

Sarah Saeed

But Benjamin, do you want to add anything?

Benjamin Salter

Yeah, we have discussed potential citywide gatherings or borough-wide gatherings with board members who are leaving to share knowledge of the incoming.

Benjamin Salter

We've talked to the borough presidents, letting them know we're available to help convene things.

Benjamin Salter

So I think all the BPs are working towards that goal of helping the transition well.

Benjamin Salter

So we're just trying to work with them and the board members themselves to make it smooth and effective.
