Commissioner Mata opening remarks on DVS services for LGBTQ+ veterans
Commissioner Yesenia Mata introduces herself, thanks the committee for its partnership, and states that today's hearing is about ensuring LGBTQ+ veterans know they are welcome and that DVS is here to support them.
Good morning, Chair Murano and members of the Committee on Veterans and Councilmember Carr.
My name is Yesenia Mata, and I am the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Veteran Services.
Thank you for the opportunity to testify today regarding support and services for LGBTQ plus veterans in New York City.
Chair Murano and members of the committee, thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to the veteran community.
