Hudson questions on DV shelter complaints and OCFS oversight
Hudson notes HRA reported zero LGBTQ+ complaints in CY2022 and asks about general complaint numbers. Rivera explains DV shelters are regulated by OCFS, which receives complaints directly, and HRA is not privy to them without client consent.
And for the calendar year 2022 report, HRA reported that in calendar year 2022, DVS did not receive any inquiries or complaints regarding the survey.
Domestic violence emergency shelter services provided to residents who identified as LGBTQIA+.
This includes any inquiries or complaints forwarded via the intranet quorum or IQ system.
Do you know how many complaints regarding DV emergency shelters did DHS receive during this period in general?
At this time, our program, I can't give an accurate count of the emergency shelter complaints in 2022 through our IQ system, but I do also want to note.
That our shelters are overseen by OCFS.
They receive operating certificates, and OCFS regulates our shelters.
And if there are any complaints, the residents usually submit those complaints directly to OCFS, and HRA, serving as the local social service district, does not have
any, not privy to what these complaints are, unless the client signs consent for us to know of them.
Okay.
Thank you.
