Council Member Wilson questions DOT on Citi Bike station relocation
Wilson asks about Community Board 5's recommendation to relocate the Citi Bike station between 29th and 30th Streets. Weidenhoff says DOT is discussing layouts with bike share colleagues, with proposals for the southern portion coming to the public soon, and the northern portion in the next design phase.
Community Board 5 also recommended relocating the city bike station between 29th and 30th to improve the pedestrian circulation.
Has DOT evaluated that recommendation and what factors will determine whether or not that station is relocated?
So we are discussing with our bike share colleagues at DOT different layouts for City Bike with the capital design.
We have a few proposals that we'll be sharing with the public as part of the southern portion.
That northern portion that you're mentioning, 29 to 30, that's in our next phase of design.
So we're not there yet.
But as we look to kind of fully reimagine the street, we'll be looking at kind of how all the different pieces fit together and have a kind of balanced, cohesive design.
And City Bike will be one of those elements that we're balancing.
