Q&A

Thomas-Henry questions applicant on coordination with other corridor developers

New York City Council · Jul 21, 2026 · starts 0:53:07 · 1 min 13 sec

Thomas-Henry asks if the applicant is open to collaborating with other developers along the corridor on design and commercial space to preserve neighborhood character and avoid retail monopolization. St. Jacques confirms his office represented the nearby development and coordination is easy. Esposito adds they have a personal relationship with that developer and agree coordination on community facility uses would be smart.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Just one more question.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

As you heard Chair Lewis mention, there was another development recently approved in this corridor a couple of blocks down, and there are potential other developments along this.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

You're open to collaborating with the other developers just in terms of design and when you're thinking about the commercial space.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Some type of coordination so that all developments are working cohesively with each other in terms of the character of the neighborhood, preserving the character of the neighborhood, as well as not looking to monopolize the retail.

Frank St. Jacques

Absolutely.

Frank St. Jacques

And to be perfectly clear, my office represented the other developments.

Frank St. Jacques

So establishing that coordination, you know,

Frank St. Jacques

It's easy to do, and we're happy to keep your office looped in on that.

Farah N. Louis

Appreciate it.

Andrew Esposito

And we have a personal relationship with that owner and developer as well, and we've spoken preliminarily, but I think that's actually a really great idea.

Andrew Esposito

I'm also thinking in terms of the community facility, for example.

Andrew Esposito

to the extent they're going to have any.

Andrew Esposito

We don't need the same services, et cetera.

Andrew Esposito

So I think if we all speak on that point, that would be smart too.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Yep, we're all on the same page.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Appreciate it.

Farah N. Louis

Thank you.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Thank you, Chair.

Farah N. Louis

No problem.
