Cindy Wong testifies in support citing housing affordability crisis
Wong describes paying $3,000+ for a three-bedroom as normal in Flushing, notes friends living in basements, and jobs impacted by outsourcing and AI. She wants to stay near her aging parents and worries her children won't afford to live in the Chinese American community where they were raised, urging support for the affordable housing project.
My opposition is neither a zoning or market value issue.
It is about preserving a lifestyle choice in New York City.
I am asking for the support of Council Member Sandra Ung.

The application was voted down by Queens Community Board 7.
City of Yes asked for a little more housing.
Community Board 7 has clearly demonstrated that it has exceeded its obligation.

The restriction is perpetual.
In 1964, the Broadway Flushing homeowners
Association was incorporated with the purpose of protecting both the zoning resolution of 1961 and the covenant.
Our association is highly respected for working with all city agencies.
Broadway Flushing stands as one of Queens'enduring masterpieces of planned residential design.
It is a desirable multicultural enclave for families seeking convenience and serenity.
I respectfully request that the Land Use Committee consider all these factors, restore balance and harmony to the community, and please vote no on this rezoning.
Doing so would overlook the enforceable deed restrictions, ignore historical significance, and legal precedent.
