Councilmember Restler on 862-868 Kent Avenue project

New York City Council · Aug 12, 2026 · starts 0:42:48 · 2 min 36 sec

Restler notes his district shrank 18% in redistricting due to high development. He praises the project, noting one developer lives down the block, and highlights commitments to community facility space including a shul and mikvah, with a majority of units being two-to-four bedrooms. He also thanks staff member Hannah for her role in the 200 Kent project.

Lincoln Restler

Thank you so much, Chair.

Lincoln Restler

I'm getting used to this.

Lincoln Restler

I don't know about all that.

Lincoln Restler

I was saying that this is a small one.

Lincoln Restler

But our district, just for your awareness, Chair, has shrank the most in redistricting this last time around by, I think, 18 percent because we have seen the most development in our district of any in the city.

Lincoln Restler

I failed in my previous comments to recognize my colleague, Hannah, who really guided the 200 Kent project along.

Lincoln Restler

And it was her idea to really bring the development team in to the bid formation process.

Lincoln Restler

And I think there was just really helpful and smart suggestions on her part.

Lincoln Restler

So I just wanted to thank her for her hard work in helping to get that project done and so smartly.
