Ferone supports the Broadway Flushing Homeowners Association and acknowledges change brings productivity and jobs, but asks the council to seek a mutually beneficial solution that respects the neighborhood's aesthetic and is not completely out of character, welcoming development that fits the community.
Over the years, I've seen rent in our area continue to grow up, and it's becoming harder and harder for regular working families to afford to stay in the neighborhood.

I've been living in the Flushing area for about 10 years.
As a member of this community, I see how high rent is affecting middle-class families, especially many Asian families in Flushing.
I have two kids, and my family are currently renting.
Over the years, I've seen rent in our area continue to grow up, and it's becoming harder and harder for regular working families to afford to stay in the neighborhood.
People work hard, raise their children here, support local businesses, and want to stay in the community.
But housing costs are making that more difficult every year.
I fully support this housing project.
I hope this project can be approved as soon as possible.
We need more affordable housing for working and middle class families.
And I believe this project will be a positive step towards
our community.
