Menin addresses TPS termination for Haitian immigrants
Menin condemns the Trump administration's decision to end TPS for Haitian immigrants, stripping work permits and risking deportation, and expresses solidarity with Haitian council members Narcisse, Joseph, Lewis, and Ossé.
But tragically, the fate of so many other New Yorkers who have been taken by ICE have not been so fortunate.
The federal government continues to inflict harm on our immigrant communities, and Haitian New Yorkers are its latest victims.
Last week, the Trump administration announced that they would be ending TPS for Haitian immigrants, stripping them of their work permits and leaving them vulnerable to deportation.
This is a tremendous injustice, not only for those whose livelihoods are in limbo, but for their families and for our entire city that relies on their countless contributions.
The council stands in solidarity with council members Mercedes Narcisse, Councilmember Rita Joseph, Councilmember Farah Lewis, Councilmember Chi-A.-Ossé,
who all represent the very best of our Haitian New York community and who are mobilizing to assist our Haitian neighbors through
