Public: Joshua Robles supports Mangin, emphasizing trust-building
Robles testifies in support, arguing the housing crisis is driven by distrust and that Mangin can repair trust by building housing that fits neighborhoods and is approved by local residents, creating harmony between advocates and skeptics.
Okay.
Good afternoon.
My name is Josh.
I am here to testify in support of John Mangion, and it is an honor to be here.
We cannot ignore that our housing crisis is largely driven by distrust.
Distrust of residents who feel suspicious about new developments in their neighborhoods.
They have every right to feel how they want to feel.
To me, however, John Manchin not only has the chance to make life better for all of us, but to repair trust that will go far in making both a more harmonious and affordable city.
I want John Manchin to fast-track affordable housing for the same economic and social reasons that others have mentioned here before me.
But in addition to that, I also do want and he wants housing that does fit the neighborhood and is approved by people in the neighborhood.
I truly believe that building housing that looks like I could fix its neighborhood and was approved by and involved people in the neighborhood not only builds housing, but builds trust.
Builds trust between those who advocate and those who are more skeptical.
Listening to others, listening to those who disagree, encourages them to listen to those who want a more equitable society.
Rebuilding trust between different parts of society is a virtue, and I think John Manchin will do that, and we can make a more affordable city in the meantime.
Thank you very much.
