Ariola questions when FDNY was notified of outage

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 1:19:38 · 58 sec

Ariola presses on when FDNY was absolutely made aware. Gelobter explains the standard protocol of sending bridge call notifications to distribution lists including PD and FD. Ariola notes both responding agencies had to notify OTI about the outage, which she finds unacceptable.

Joann Ariola

For the FDNY, we've spent a lot of time with that.

Joann Ariola

When was the FDNY notified of the outage?

Joann Ariola

I know you said they were invited.

Joann Ariola

But when were they absolutely?

Joann Ariola

made aware of the outage and how were they made aware?

Lisa Gelobter

They were part of the, so it is standard protocol when a conference bridge is stood up to send out notifications to a large group of stakeholders.

Lisa Gelobter

I think at some point there were 50 to 75 people on that call.

Lisa Gelobter

So as part of that process, there are distribution lists that get these emails, these notifications to join the bridge call.

Lisa Gelobter

And so PD, FD were all on those notifications.

Lisa Gelobter

My understanding is that I don't, I'm not sure I should speak to.

Joann Ariola

Well, let me just say, you also said that you were notified by FDNY about the outages.
