Ariola questions NYPD working with Motorola during outage

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 1:18:14 · 1 min 24 sec

Ariola asks if NYPD was actively working with Motorola during the outage. Gelobter confirms all agencies and vendors were on the bridge call starting at 8:54 a.m. Ariola then asks when FDNY was notified—Gelobter says they were part of the bridge call distribution list notifications.

Joann Ariola

Would you say that was a correct response to the news agency?

Lisa Gelobter

Thank you for the question.

Lisa Gelobter

If I am understanding the question and recalling properly, there was a report that at 9.24 a.m.

Lisa Gelobter

A notification was sent out saying that there were alarm calls being impacted.

Lisa Gelobter

And at 9.24 a.m., that is where we thought the issue was.

Lisa Gelobter

We did not learn until later that 911 calls were also being impacted.

Lisa Gelobter

There was a second notification sometime between 10.20 and 11 a.m.

Lisa Gelobter

That went out saying that the issue to the alarm company calls had been resolved.

Lisa Gelobter

And all traffic had been rerouted to PSAC 1.

Lisa Gelobter

And no impact to 911 was currently being experienced.

Joann Ariola

Was the NYPD actively working with Motorola during that outage?

Lisa Gelobter

During the bridge call that started at 8.54 in terms of getting to resolution and having the calls rerouted to PSAC 1.

Lisa Gelobter

Yes, all of the agencies and the vendors were all on one call.

Joann Ariola

Okay.
