Q&A

Dinowitz questions number of affected calls before 6 a.m.

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 2:24:51 · 43 sec

Dinowitz asks for a ballpark of affected calls. Elizabeth reports 322 calls with one-way audio from the 10-digit alarm number between 3:13 a.m. and 6 a.m., presented to 83 unique call takers. It didn't feel out of the norm until one call taker received many in a row and raised the alarm.

Eric Dinowitz

Yes.

Eric Dinowitz

And how many callers again?

Eric Dinowitz

So it was a few callers, many calls, but just a few callers.

Elizabeth

I have the numbers.

Unidentified speaker

Unidentified speaker

Oh, you have it, Elizabeth?

Elizabeth

I do have the numbers.

Elizabeth

Okay.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth

In reviewing the data that we have today, from the start of the impact at 3.13 to 6 a.m., there were 322 calls with one-way audio from that 10-digit alarm number,

Elizabeth

and those were presented to 83 unique call takers.

Elizabeth

So as the chief mentioned, it...

Elizabeth

Did not feel out of the norm for our call takers until one call taker received many in a row and raised an alarm.

Eric Dinowitz

Okay.
