Feliz closes panel questioning with thanks and commitment to follow-up
Feliz thanks the panel from OTI, FDNY, and NYPD for their work and answers. He states the committee will send a follow-up letter for unanswered questions and looks forward to the root cause report and deeper exploration of NextGen 911. He emphasizes the urgency is about ensuring New Yorkers get help in their worst moments. The panel is dismissed and he thanks council members who stayed throughout.
Thank you.
Thank you, Chair Feliz.
I want to thank the panel, CTO, OTI, FDNY, NYPD, for your work and for answering these questions as earnestly as you can.
We understand the complexities of this system.
We also understand the urgency of getting this right.
And we're looking forward to working with each of you to make sure that we can get this right.
The committee will be putting together a letter in collaboration with the rest of the chairs to get some answers that we weren't able to receive today.
We're looking forward to seeing the rest of the root cause report and digging deeper into.
Next Gen 911 and everything that comes along with that.
You know, for us, this urgency is not so much an I got you moment.
It's more about how can we make sure that when someone is in the worst
moment of their life and is calling 911, that there is a system in place that guarantees that that New Yorker will get help.
We're looking forward to collaborating with you all.
I think the council members have given good feedback about public notification as something that we should reconsider and some of the qualifications and markers that are needed in order to prevent this from happening in the future.
So we're looking forward to continuing to work with all of you.
We thank you.
The panel is dismissed.
I also want to take a moment to thank Councilmember Felice, Chair Brewer, Chair Felice, and also Murano and Wong, who stood here almost the entire time for this panel.
And we're looking forward to continuing this conversation.
Thank you for coming today.
I now open the hearing for public testimony.
