Applicant Walker-Stewart on MAPES building design and community space
Walker-Stewart presents the MAPES building: 298 affordable units, 6-14 stories, over 15,000 sq ft of community space potentially for a YMCA, with massing concentrated on wide streets and stepping down to residential streets. She notes a meeting with YMCA is scheduled.
So we are hoping to create 298 units of affordable housing with the same residential amenity space on the ground floor.
The project ranges in height between 6 and 14 stories.
Again, the massing response to the street corners, concentrating the height on the wide street, and then stepping down to the residential.
streets.
What sets this building apart from Sojourner and what we're really excited about is that we are creating over 15,000 square feet of community space and we know the council member has been interested in using the space for a community center,
he's expressed interest in YMCA and so we wanted to let you know where you're meeting with them tomorrow to discuss the feasibility of that.

This is another perspective showing that distribution of massing and urban design sensitivity and the community facility space on the ground floor.

You can see again, we're stepping down to Mapes Avenue, which is a real residential street.
So again, we're being sensitive to the neighborhood context.

So this is the first floor plan.
In white, you can see the community facility space.
And then the middle, this MAPES court would also have a landscaped area for tenants.
A single point of entry lobby.
This is a security measure as well as tenants will be greeted by concierge.
And then in blue, we introduce residential units along MAPES Avenue.
