Council Member Feliz questions Hurley on ideal project vision
Council Member Feliz asks Hurley what the ideal project would look like. She suggests co-op ownership, small business space, food co-op groceries, and consideration of Bronx Zoo tourism. Feliz notes he has not yet decided how he will vote and looks forward to continuing the conversation.
Councilwoman Felice?
Yes, thank you so much for coming to City Hall to testify.
So you actually kind of answered the question that I had.
My question was,
what would the ideal project look like?
So I know you mentioned out of character, also potentially doing co-ops, home ownership, parking space, schools, anything else that you think?
And I know you also mentioned that we need to go back to the community board and speak as a community, but based on the conversations that you've had,
Anything else that you think we should keep in mind in terms of needs of the community?
I heard Phipps say earlier that if they had to redivide.
If they had to expand beyond the 1,500 square ground floor, that they would actually build taller, which is obviously not what we would like.
But that ground floor, one of the things I would like you to write down is, is it possible that a space could be set aside for a small business?
How can local small businesses support?
And build on the tourism that comes from the Bronx Zoo.
Okay.
Any ideas for small business?
Anything like a restaurant or I'm sure a restaurant.
Bronx Zoo is there.
Tourism, people.
A restaurant.
We're also considering a food co-op groceries.
There's a farmer's market that's right there.
Sorry, my phone is going too fast.
But there's a list of things that we would like.
Okay.
All right, so yeah, let's definitely continue that conversation.
We'll make sure to touch base with the community board as well.
And also, just for the record, for everybody in the room, I still haven't decided how I'm going to vote on this, but I look forward to speaking with everybody on the many details.
Thank you.
