Council Member Santosuosso questions on refiling at higher density if rejected
Grinshtein confirms that if rejected, the applicant could use the appeals board or refile in January under the new abbreviated ULURP timeline, bypassing the council entirely. Santosuosso asks if they would return with R7X; Grinshtein confirms they would come back with R7X or potentially R8/R9.
Yeah.
Just with the remainder of my time, and this is not a problem that you alone as developers can solve, but it's imperative in this moment that we're in where the prevailing belief is that our only way out of the housing crisis is to build, build, build,
that it is actually important to have actual affordable housing that is not inflationary to local rent costs and that actually fits in with the neighborhood character.
I need to express on the record my frustration that even though we will be able to vote on the rezoning application in front of us, that because the applicant is not withdrawing and will come back in January should we vote it down, that our hands are somewhat tied here.
And that's a frustrating reality for my constituents.
But I am appreciative that you have been responsive to our concerns, and I look forward to continuing the conversation.
Thank you, Council Member.
This panel is now excused.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Council, are there any members of the public who wish to testify remotely or in person regarding this proposal?
Yes, we have one member in person and one member online.
We will start with the one member in person.
