Council Member Won questions on street-level greenery

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 1:47:40 · 54 sec

Won asks about additional greenery beyond required street trees. Labaris says the sidewalk depth limits additional planting but expects ground floor tenants to add green street furniture, and the adjacent park provides planting.

Julie Won

Beyond the number of required street trees, how will you incorporate additional greenery at the street level?

Nick Labaris

Well, the depth of the sidewalk is such that it will be difficult to do much more than the street trees.

Nick Labaris

That being said, the way that we've set up this ground floor, let's say vis-a-vis who could be occupying it,

Nick Labaris

I think you could count on there being some additional green.

Nick Labaris

street furniture that would be put out there just because it would be something that would enliven the facade.

Nick Labaris

We are right behind this very nice park, which is going to be planted very, very thoroughly.

Nick Labaris

So it would seem to be that I just think that the tenants will be taking care of a lot of that.
