Council Member Maloney on 9/11 Memorial Way co-naming and AI disclosure bill for mental health
Virginia Maloney celebrates the co-naming of West 46th Street and 6th Avenue as Marsh McLennan September 11th Memorial Way, honoring 358 colleagues lost on 9/11, and introduces legislation requiring mental health providers to disclose when AI note-taking systems are used during patient care.
Councilmember Maloney, followed by Salam.
Thank you, Majority Leader.
First, I'm thrilled we passed a street naming at the intersection of West 46th Street and 6th Avenue, Marsh McClellan September 11th Memorial Way, in memory of the 358 Marsh
McLennan colleagues whose lives were taken on September 11th.
The co-naming gives those New Yorkers a permanent place in the landscape of the city they called home.
Second, I'm introducing legislation requiring mental health providers to disclose when AI note-taking systems are being used during a patient's care.
AI has enormous potential to improve health care, but patients deserve transparency about how and when it's being used and confidence that their most sensitive information remains private and anonymous.
Thank you.
Thank you, Councilmember.
