Chair Ung summarizes three mayoral appointment items for vote
Chair Ung outlines the three items being voted on: M-87 for Lisa Garcia to the NYC Land Bank, M-88 for Dr. Dave Chokshi to the Board of Health, and M-89 for John Mangin as chair of the Board of Standards and Appeals, all previously heard on September 1st.
Today, we are voting on three items that this committee heard on September 1st, 2026.
We are voting on a resolution to approve M-87, Mayor Zerwa Madani's request pursuant to Local Law 56 of 2026 for the Council's advice and consent regarding the appointment of Commissioner Lisa Garcia
to serve as a member of the New York City Land Bank for a term of four years that will expire September 9, 2030.
We are also voting a resolution to approve M88, the mayor's request pursuant to Section 31.
of the New York City Charter for the Council's advice and consent regarding the appointment of Dr.
Dave Chokshi to serve as a member of the New York City Board of Health for the remainder of the six-year term that will expire on May 31, 2030.
And lastly, we have only a resolution to approve M89, the mayor's request, also pursuant to Section 31 of the New York City Charter for the appointment of John Manchin to serve on the New York City
Board of Standards Appeals for the remainder of the six-year term that will expire on October 6, 2027.
The mayor has indicated his intent to designate Mr.
Manchin as the chair of the board.
