Thomas-Henry urges DSNY to improve public awareness of programs and marketing
Thomas-Henry notes a recurring theme that residents are unaware of DSNY programs and urges creative marketing campaigns, praising DSNY staff member Frank. Anderson responds that DSNY lacks a public education or advertising budget and would like to work with the Council on budget requests for marketing.
Okay, and I did just want to end on a comment.
It seems to be a recurring theme that sanitation does a lot of great programs, but it has a lot of great programs that many people...
And with that, I yell my time.
And with that.
Has a lot of great, that people just aren't aware of.
So just really thinking about your marketing campaign.
I mean, and the admin, the mayor is great on social media.
I mean, I hear about potholes from here to L.A.
So just.
Thinking of getting creative on how letting the public know about a lot of the programs, encouraging them not to litter, and all the things.
And I want to shout out Frank.
He is amazing, and you guys do a great job.
Thank you.
Yeah, thank you.
And we are always looking for free ways to get out the word.
We unfortunately don't have a public education budget.
So every conversation that we have with buildings,
has to happen through sort of organic and natural means.
We do a lot of work on social media to try to get the word out.
We do a lot of work through the traditional media to try to get the word out.
But unlike other agencies, we don't have an advertising budget.
We don't have a marketing budget that we can lean on.
And so that's something that we would love to work with the council on as part of the budget next year.
I love the idea of agencies with advertising budgets.
Like we have some bills about that.
Okay.
We will circle back.
