Chair Thomas-Henry questions Khan on ensuring equity for Black and brown legacy business nominations
Thomas-Henry asks how to ensure demographic equity in legacy business nominations and assistance, noting Queens has many legacy Black and brown entrepreneurs. Khan says SBS wants to work closely with the bill sponsor and committee on all parameters including equity criteria.
I have one final.
Question before I turn it back over to my colleague.
So Queens, similar to Harlem, does have a lot of legacy black and brown entrepreneurs and that could potentially qualify for the bill.
Are there any recommendations on how we can ensure equality and demographics for nominations and eventual legacy appointments and assistance?
At this time, we'd love to work closely with the bill sponsor and the committee to have further discussions on all the different parameters we should consider.
That would be one.
There's so many other criteria that the city and city council should consider if this bill advances in the legislative process.
