Aldebol Q&A: CBO partnerships and feedback metrics
Aldebol asks which CBOs DVS works with for mental health services and what the feedback loop looks like. Mata and Orlando describe roundtables with providers, partnerships with Northwell Health, City Bar Justice Center, Staten Island Performing Provider System, and federal VA vet centers.
Thank you.
I want to go back to my first line of questioning.
Can you guys hear me okay?
Is the mic picking up?
I apologize.
I have to stand for a little bit.
To follow up on some of the questions that were around, sort of the agency and community-based organization collaboration piece.
What are some of the CBOs that DVS works with to provide, specifically to provide mental health services to vets and military families?
And what does the feedback loop look like?
If you're working with these CBOs to provide the services, are they giving you feedback on their work?
Do you guys have metrics to measure the quality of the services that are being provided?
And how do you then collect that information?
Thank you for the question.
And I...
At DVS, as I mentioned, we continue having many roundtables at DVS.
I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps this is one of the first times the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
Again, it was within this year that we had the first female veteran roundtable.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
continue having these roundtables, we are developing those metrics because what we, and I think going back to data is we need to, I want, I wanted to further understand what is our engagement, what's our outreach, what's our attendance, what's our referral, what's,
Again, it was within this year that we had the first female veteran roundtable, right?
how do we close the loop in any service that a veteran is seeking?
So
So that's an example.
Again, I think going back to that question, we are continuing having these roundtables to best measure the success of the services that we're having.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.

But I will have Nicole answer that question.
It's currently what we're doing as well.
Yeah, so thank you for that question.
So that's an example.

As Commissioner stated, as we continue to make sure that there's a stronger feedback loop there, what we can share is that for veterans that we have referred to our mental health partners, primarily it has been with Northwell Health as well as the City Bar Justice Center, specifically for veterans experiencing generalized anxiety.

We also look to our partners at the federal VA who do have, as Donnie mentioned before, the different vet centers where someone can access support closer to their community.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
And on Staten Island specifically, we work very closely with the Staten Island Performing Provider System to ensure that a veteran and their family are holistically taken care of.
