Aldebol Q&A: data collection timeline and reporting plans
Aldebol asks about timelines for analyzing collected data and what form work products will take. Mata describes the new data department providing monthly internal reports, sharing with council members, and using Local Law 37 data to understand services veterans seek across city agencies.
And so what do the next steps look like?
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
It sounds very much so that, like, you know, under new leadership, you're really digging into getting as much information as possible, which is incredible.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
Obviously, you want to do something with that information.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
So is there sort of a timeline where you're going to be looking at the numbers, the information, the data from this data collection?
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
sizing it, analyzing it, what form do you anticipate it will take in terms of a work product, whether it's a report or anything like that?
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
Before I pass it on to Nicole, as we're gathering this data, as I mentioned, we have developed a data department, and the goal is that we can provide that reporting
So that's an example.

per se within our agency on a monthly basis, and I as well share it with any council member that would like to know where we are on a monthly basis as well.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
The goal with that is as we develop this data department, this aftercare, it's going to give us an understanding
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
the services that veterans are seeking, where they are, whether or not they were served, but also with Local Law 37, as I mentioned, that we're working with all the city agencies.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
This will give us a more of an idea where veterans, what are the services that they're seeking even outside of DBS?
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
And I think that's a major component that we were missing as an agency because, for example, I'm just going to be using SBS as an example.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
We would like to know even further information as to, and we're working very close with SBS, I want to emphasize that.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
But I would like to know about what veterans are going through, like what services are they seeking through SBS?
What can we do better than to connect them?
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
So I think to your point,
this December when we also get the

the data from certain local agencies is going to further help us understand the services that veterans are seeking.
So that's an example.
But I'll pass the mic on to Nicole.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
Thank you for that question.
I think in addition to what Commissioner has mentioned, what we also have been really focused on in the spirit of increasing that self-identification is also telling the story through the data.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
I think it's important to see that comprehensive view, seeing what those numbers show, telling that story as well.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
Because I think oftentimes, you know, we can see the 22 a day on a page or we can hear these different numbers that do get put out there.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
But it's like, what is the story behind it?
What does the actual veteran go through?
What does the family member go through?
So that's an example.
To bring awareness to that as well and make someone feel like they want to also share their story.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
So that's a big focus for us was the creation of the data department, but also making sure that our comms team is very aligned in that so that there can be that continued storytelling and that continued advocacy as well.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
So that's an example.
