Morano Q&A: Mission VetCheck call metrics and outcomes
Morano asks how many veterans actually answered Mission VetCheck calls, how many identified mental health needs, and how many were connected to care. Orlando reports 27,544 calls since November 2025, with over 1,739 lasting more than 60 seconds.
On VetCheck, Commissioner, you testified that Mission VetCheck made more than 1,000 calls during its most recent outreach effort, and that's certainly encouraging.
How many veterans actually answered those calls?
How many identified a need for mental health services, and how many were successfully connected to care?
I guess what I'm trying to get at is, are we measuring the number of calls made, or are we measuring the number of veterans actually being helped?
Absolutely.
Thank you for that question.
And I'll pass that question on to my chief of staff, Nicole.
But I do want to emphasize that under my tenure, we are revamping the mission vet check to ensure that we can even outreach to more veterans and fully provide that further service.
Thank you for the question.
Since November of 2025, 27,544 mission vet check calls have occurred.
And within those calls, there was over 1,739 that lasted more than 60 seconds.
By the way, Ms.
Orlando, I think this is the first time you've testified before this committee being introduced as chief of staff.
So I'm assuming that means congratulations are in order.
And the people of the city of New York.
Are certainly well served with that.
