Hanif asks about immigrant and LEP community outreach
Hanif asks how DOF reaches immigrant and limited English proficient communities, and Shear describes translated forms on the website, language translation services at five DOF business centers used about 120 times per month, and work with community-based organizations.
How are you reaching immigrant and limited English proficient communities?
Is this through community-based organizations?
We do work with community-based organizations.
We do provide translations of our forms on the website in many different languages.
We also have language translation services available at DOS five business centers, one per borough.
We have stats showing that our exemption unit uses those services about 120 times per month.
Now, that's for all exemption programs.
That's not specific to rent freeze, and I don't have the figure.
We don't provide breakdowns by program, but those are some of the ways in which we do that outreach.
And for the applications available in the other languages, are you all keeping track of, let's say, if I fill it out in the Bangla language?
Seven applicants have applied using that specific translated application, or how are you all tracking use?
So I need to get back to you on that.
Thank you.
