Katie Bordnaro testifies for MLRC on Intros 978 and 307
Katie Bordnaro of the Mitchell-Lama Residence Coalition supports Intro 978 to raise the income cap and Intro 307 for a universal online application portal, praising the council's prior measure to auto-send SCRIE applications to Mitchell-Lama residents and urging committee passage of both bills.
Okay, great, great, great, great.
Thank you so much.
My name is Katie Bordnaro, and I serve as Secretary of the Michelama Residence Coalition, commonly known as MLRC.
You heard our full description from Treasurer Millicent Reddick a few minutes ago, so I'll get right to the heart of the matter.
Today, you are hearing testimony from MLRC officers, Barbara Jones, Millicent Reddick, and myself, and members, Michelle Hall, in support of Intro
978 to increase the income cap from $50,000 to $75,000 for those receiving scree and tree benefits.
This increase is essential to keeping our most vulnerable neighbors in their homes.
I also want to urge you to pass Intro 307.
a measure that we have only recently learned about.
This measure would require a universal online application and recertification portal for SCRI.
MLRC sees the creation of efficiencies like these as fundamental to protecting and expanding access to this vital program.
We salute the council for having passed Council Member Dinawis'measure to automatically send SCRI applications to Michilama residents a few years ago.
Intro 307 has the potential to provide similar streamlining for the SCRIP program and its beneficiaries.
We understand you may do some modifications based on comments today, and we are very supportive of that exploration.
I please vote to move Intro 97 and Intro 307 out of committee and then support their passage by the council to protect some of our most at-risk neighbors.
Thank you so much for holding this hearing.
Really staying with it.
It's been a long day and we appreciate your attention.
Thank you again.
Thank you.
And then we have Dorcia Renuso.
