Zhuang asks about consolidated intake and Access NYC integration
Zhuang asks whether there is a single consolidated public-facing intake point like Access NYC that flags SCRIE/DRIE eligibility alongside other benefits, and Shear describes DOF's online eligibility tool and application portal, noting under 20% of applications are online and many seniors prefer paper.
Is there a single consolidated public-facing intake point, access NYC or something similar that flags screen and tree eligibility alongside other benefits a household may qualify?
We have on our website an eligibility tool and a single place for people to apply online.
I should mention along the lines of the discussion earlier that many seniors prefer to apply via paper.
So right now, under 20% of the applications we get are online.
But we love online applications.
That helps speed the process.
And we have done work to make sure that people can apply entirely online.
So my question is, that's access NYC.
Because my office sees 7,000 people.
Sometimes when it's super busy, I also see constituents myself.
I did Shree and Dree, all the application myself before for constituents.
A lot of time people don't know they are qualified.
Do we have a system when they are applying for the other benefits?
Also mention to them, hey, you are qualified for Shree and Dree.
Do you want to apply?
Do we have anything compromised with the other program?
I will need to get back to you on that.
Because that will make sure people know that program easier and also
remind them if they're qualified.
That's probably one of the ways to do outreach.
Because when access NYC, when you go into the portal, they're going to tell you what benefit you can apply.
That's actually very helpful for a lot of seniors and also caseworkers.
If we can put that inside there together, then probably will be benefit to a lot of people.
That's my opinion.
