Q&A

Zhuang asks about dedicated SCRIE outreach staff

New York City Council · Sep 18, 2026 · starts 0:53:17 · 1 min 5 sec

Zhuang asks how many staff are dedicated to SCRIE outreach, and Murray explains there is no dedicated SCRIE staff but at least 308 case assistance individuals across centers and 21+ case management programs provide benefit information and application help.

Susan Zhuang

Can you please describe your current outreach process and the program in detail?

Susan Zhuang

How many staff are dedicated to assist in screen outreach and create information materials and help other adults through the application process?

Ryan Murray

Sure.

Ryan Murray

We don't have a dedicated number of staff to SCRI specifically.

Ryan Murray

At our older adult centers, as you know, we have our case assistance program.

Ryan Murray

So each of the 308 centers has an individual or multiple individuals who provide case assistance across a range of benefits and services.

Ryan Murray

So the number is at least 308 individuals providing those services in our case management programs.

Ryan Murray

There are multiple case managers.

Ryan Murray

We have 21 programs citywide, so at least 21 or more individuals in those programs are dedicated to providing information.

Ryan Murray

And again, we partner when we think of outreach with our colleagues here at the Department of Finance who would be on the ground and with other parts of our city government.
