Zhuang asks MOPD about call staffing and office size
Zhuang asks how many staff answer phones at MOPD and the total office size, and Agarwal reports two people handle calls and emails, with about 20 total staff at MOPD, and notes they may need another 311-seconded person due to call volume.
And then as you're getting calls, does your, do you all have, what kind of staffing or staff is receiving the calls?
And are they taking down maybe age or location of where those calls are coming from?
Yeah, so again, it's very quick because we ask what information they need.
So we have one from 311 who does that service, and we have another staff member who does that.
And most of it is referrals.
So if they have a DRE question, we refer them to DOF.
So it's like a pass-through to other agencies which are doing that work.
Got it.
And then how many people are picking up the phone at MOPD?
You mean the staff?
Yeah, like when a call is coming in.
Yeah.
So either emails or calls go to our 311 person or to the...
Another person.
So two people receive these emails or calls.
So you're saying 311 is the one then sending it over to you all?
No, this person is from 311, but he's in our office because we have so many constituent calls related to disabilities broadly and to housing in particular.
So can you just clarify the, this is a staff member on MOPD's team.
Yes.
That also works.
He's seconded from 311.
And we really worked with.
311 on having that because that's very important.
And in fact, we might want another one because it's really a huge job.
And how many staff are currently at MOPD?
About 20.
And this person that was, well, they're still with 311.
I'm just, I'm a little confused.
So they're technically in 311, but they support us and come to our office every day and respond to emails and calls.
And it's just one person?
Yes.
