Q&A

Zhuang asks MOPD about data tracking and call volume

New York City Council · Sep 18, 2026 · starts 1:31:09 · 1 min 46 sec

Zhuang asks how MOPD tracks constituent issue areas and call data, and Agarwal explains they collect simple data on whether callers need housing, employment, or other services, with two staff handling calls and emails including one seconded from 311.

Susan Zhuang

And then in terms of how many folks reached out to MOPD, do you have a number that you can share?

Nisha Agarwal

Yeah, we don't have a specific number, but I will say there's a lot of constituent calls come to our office.

Nisha Agarwal

So I think for the last month it was like 500 people.

Nisha Agarwal

So we have a lot of...

Nisha Agarwal

people asking questions and majority of them are related to housing.

Nisha Agarwal

So that's an area that we're going to be involved in, not just in

Nisha Agarwal

but also other areas of affordable housing.

Susan Zhuang

And then as constituents call MOPD, are you all, how are you all keeping track of the issue areas that are coming your way?

Nisha Agarwal

Yeah, so we,

Nisha Agarwal

We can't do an actual detailed numbers and et cetera.

Nisha Agarwal

People call often in crisis, and so we have simple data, but we don't provide the information.

Nisha Agarwal

But I think it's very important to know that we do have

Nisha Agarwal

the they want housing or they want employment and they want etc we have that information to start

Susan Zhuang

sorting that out got it yeah i asked because as we do in our district offices when we get calls we want to make sure that we're able to share those trends and so i would be

Susan Zhuang

Yeah, I would really like to understand how you all are similarly keeping that data within your offices.
