Wong asks who will take Regents exams if not required for diploma
Wong asks who will take Regents if they are not getting a Regents diploma. Katie Hansen says Regents will still be administered and remain part of the advanced Regents diploma and seals or endorsements like civic readiness and biliteracy.
So who's going to take the regents if they're not getting a regent's diploma?
Let's say I'm graduating next June.
Right.
I'm going to bring in Katie to come back into some of the academic policy aspects of your questions.
Yeah, thank you.
So the regents are still going to be administered.
And as I was alluding to before, the regents are still a component of...
The advanced regents diploma, which is still an option available to all of our students.
And they're also a component of many of our seals or endorsements.
So for example, we have a seal of civic readiness, we have a seal of biliteracy, and a few others.
And for those, students have to do a very robust course sequence, as well as attain certain
proficiency on Regents exams and do other expanded learning experiences, sometimes work-based learning, in order to earn those special designations.
So the Regents do still serve that purpose.
They're one of many measures that students can use to show what they know and can do.
