Chair Hudson asks about returned applications and stale documents
Hudson asks what percentage of applications are returned for correction and whether documents go stale during review. DSS says it will follow up on percentages and explains document validity was extended from four to six months and is frozen at application submission.
What percentage of city FEPS applications are returned for correction?
I don't have that with me.
Okay, I think we can get, I want to make sure we have the right data point for you so we can get back to you with the percentage that are returned for correction.
Okay, and then sort of in the same vein, what percentage of packages are returned to providers because the documents, i.e.
Leases or pay stubs, grew stale or outdated while awaiting HRA review?
So we'll look into, I will say, I'm not sure how much we can sort of disaggregate by percentage-wise based on specific reason.
I know we have gotten sort of much more specific around that moving forward, so there might be something that we can provide now and then potentially more detail in the future.
But we have spent a lot of effort working with the providers, right, on sort of identifying to them.
And we can provide that to you of like, these are the main reasons why packages are being returned.
I think also through the streamlining, right, we're looking at the whole of package, which has allowed us, I think, to hone in on.
These are the real reasons.
These are the primary reasons from an eligibility perspective that we will return this to you versus some other things we may now, based on that approach, determine that is not something that needs to be returned for the package to move forward.
When does a lease or pay stub become outdated?
Thank you for that question, Council Member.
I shared that we have now increased the time of the life of documents, and so six months, and because of the six months.
Also, when the application...
So, sorry, the increased time is now six months?
Yes.
What was it before?
Four.
Okay.
From four months to six months.
And also, at the point that the application is first submitted...
We freeze the time frame so the documents do not go stale.
You freeze the time frame at the point of submission.
Right.
Okay.
Thank you.
So you no longer have to update the documents.
Right.
Or resubmit, effectively.
Resubmit, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
