Chair Hudson questions Diana Ramos on lease renewal submission
Hudson asks Ramos how she submitted her lease renewal. Ramos says she emailed pictures but had no way to upload a new lease to HRA, and her rent was initially not updated, causing stress and payment issues.
For Ms.
Ramos, you said...
For the lease renewal, how did you submit that paperwork?
Was it in person or electronically?
The first time I renewed, I asked them, how do I give you guys my new lease?
Because I didn't know for sure if the rent was going to change.
I checked the not sure, don't know if it's going to raise up or anything.
And they gave me an email address to send pictures.
And I did that.
And I thought, everything's good.
They checked the email, right?
Apparently not.
There's no option really to, say, upload your new lease to HRA.
So, yeah, it's...
It was difficult.
But then when I realized that they weren't getting paid the proper amount, I immediately, you know, we worked on it with SMP.
We remedied that quickly because I'm not one to.
So they did get their money.
They shouldn't have because the place is disgusting.
But they did get their money.
But now it's, you know.
Different challenge.
It's a different challenge because I used to be able to, on my HRA, access HRA app, see did they give them what they gave them, you know, and now I don't have that ability.
We thought maybe it wasn't connected.
And this is what I'm saying is I want to be able to, on my end, make sure things are getting done.
This is just how I've always been.
You know, when am I going to get paid?
You know, how much is going to be coming into my bank account?
That type of thing.
I've always been like that my whole life.
But now, you know, I'm in an apartment that I'm almost wanting to say, yeah, please don't pay them, you know, because they haven't fixed anything.
And now I've got a new management company, but the old management company screwed up so bad that when I talked to the super, the new super, he said, you'd have to leave your apartment for a week.
We can move you.
I don't want to move within that building.
It's become dangerous.
There's issues.
And then it's on the first floor.
I have a dog.
She would be triggered all the time.
They always hang out in the lobby.
I find myself in a catch-22.
It's very stressful for me.
I have chronic illness, chronic pain, and of course, gotta love the CPTSD always likes to kick you sometimes.
Sorry.
I find myself in a freeze.
So then I can't really take care of myself or my apartment because then I'm flared up because I'm stressed out and I'm anxious and I ask for help.
