Banks asks about mold/leak blitz and 100-day complaints; Greene reports 12,500 mold and 30,000 leak tickets
Banks asks how many mold and leak complaints have been outstanding more than 100 days. Greene says about 12,500 mold tickets and 30,000 leak tickets are pending over 100 days, and the blitz has already addressed 3,000 work orders while targeting developments with trades on site.
OK, the fiscal year 2027 executive budget also added five million
to support a mold and leaks blitz over fiscal years 2027 and 2028.
How many mold and leak complaints have been outstanding for more than 100 days?
So thank you, Chair, for that question.
So in terms of aging, for 100-plus days on the mold side, it's about 12,500.
On the leak side, pending more than 100 days,
It's about 30,000 that have been pending more than 100 days.
So what we're doing for that program, which has already started, we've already addressed 3,000 work orders through that program.
So it's trades, it's plumbers, plasters, painters, and planners to do those, carpenters as well, to do those comprehensive repairs.
So what we do is we use the data and we target developments and we sit those trades at the developments until we bring down the backlog.
So we started as Soda Mayor.
We then moved to Whitman and Ingersoll and Red Hook.
And now we've moved the team into Manhattan at Baruch, Jefferson and Wagner.
Our goal is to bring down the overall work orders by about 10,000 through that initiative of the ones that are open as of that 100 days when they get to those developments.
And the city funding will allow us to extend that funding.
It's currently funded with HUD funding, which is time limited, but this will supplement it.
And if it's a successful initiative, we hope it will continue.
Okay.
