Banks asks if NYCHA will hire more staff for backlog; Greene cites MLR hires and lead abatement
Banks asks whether NYCHA plans to hire additional staff to address the outstanding work order backlog. Greene says NYCHA hired 47 trades through the MLR program, added lead abatement staff, and is targeting mold and leak work orders through specific programs.
So does NYCHIP plan to hire any additional staff to address the outstanding work order backlog?
So we have hired it through the MLR.
Thank you, Chair, for the question.
Through the MLR, we have hired 47 additional staff.
We've also positioned staff with our lead abatement program so that they can be more self-sufficient.
So they can address, for example, now they've moved up 20,000 abatements.
They're moving back residents in under 14 days for their abatements, which is a big improvement.
So we have added trades to specific programs to improve response times, particularly on Molden Leak.
That was a big program that we worked with the monitor.
So we have that program designed now to attack these aging work orders and developments that are overwhelmed by them.
Thank you.
Thank you for your testimony.
Thank you.
