Denise Davis describes PACT leaks, lost subsidy, eviction, and elevator outages
Denise Davis says she has lived at Penn-Wortman Houses for more than 20 years and has experienced many leaks under the PAC program. She says she lost her subsidy after trying to get answers for over a year, is now in court, and faces chronic elevator outages and repeated electrical failures.
Good afternoon.
Excellent.
Speaking to the mic.
Good afternoon, Chair.
Move the mic a little closer so we can hear you.
I am Denise Davis.
I'm a resident of Penn Workman Houses.
I have been in my apartment like 20, more than 20 years.
But ever since the PAC program began.
Can you move the mic a little closer so I can, and you can start it, I think.
Since the PAC, I'm under the PAC program.
Mm-hmm.
There have been things that's been broken and leaks and a lot of leaks, a lot of leaks.
I was not aware that I could address these leaks through, like I could talk to NYCHA about it.
Right.
Everything is the CCNC deals with it.
And they tell me, wait, wait.
Wait, they said that the whole J line had leaks.
That went on for almost a year after this.
Everything was supposed to be new and nice.
And then when it was time for an inspection, oh, you'll never get past this inspection with all these leaks.
What am I supposed to do about it?
The next thing that I find, they took away my subsidy.
After I've been trying for more than a year, trying to find out what is going on, why...
I lost my subsidy.
I'm now in court.
In court for the subsidy, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
I don't understand this whole situation.
And right now, the elevator, the elevator is like constantly four and five times in one month, no elevator.
Supposedly, we have no elevators going on here.
Up to today, there was no elevator.
This morning, there was three days of no elevator, one elevator.
And this is a rad pack development.
Yes.
Yes.
This is a pack for yes.
And then there...
You have 30 seconds to wrap it up.
Oh, now what?
Take your time.
About...
I have to, I don't know how, what am I supposed to do with no lack of, I mean, you're talking about eviction for something I didn't do anything.
Why is that?
And I never could get any answers.
It's always, you have to deal with C&C.
Everything is C&C.
And now with electric.
This is the third time they have to do the electric again.
They failed electric for the conversion that they did.
They keep failing, they're failing, and now they want again.
Open up their apartment and allow them to do more electric again.
I can't do anything about that.
Well, thank you for your testimony.
Sorry for the experience you're having.
What am I supposed to do about the situation?
Eviction?
Yeah.
Thank you for your testimony.
We will now move on to Mrs.
Eves.
Unless you want to look.
And move the mic a little closer so we can hear your testimony.
