Law-Gisiko cites locked-in tenant and broken building entrance

New York City Council · Sep 22, 2026 · starts 0:26:10 · 50 sec

Law-Gisiko says a tenant became locked in her apartment and the fire department had to break her door because NYCHA could not send a locksmith. She says the door remains unrepaired and a Fulton building entrance has been broken for weeks despite multiple tickets.

The door has still not been repaired.

And she has now been told that the repair will take many weeks and maybe months because a carpenter is not available before at least two to three months.

That is putting her and her household at risk.
