Council Member Wong notes packed room and asks where Amelia Rowland is
Wong notes the room is packed with only three empty seats, cites the charter giving committees authority to require testimony, and asks where Amelia Rowland, the Director of New Media overseeing the influencer operation, is; Van Auken says she does not have the answer.
Thank you, Chair Brewer.
And thank you to Speaker Menon for the opportunity to hold this hearing on this important issue and the bills before the committee today.
Now, I counted, there are only like three empty seats in the room.
There are 64 seats in the room.
So this is a packed room.
So the people here, they are here today because this issue is important.
And I'm glad the panelists are here because this is an important topic.
And the charter expressly gives council committees the authority to require the attendance and testimony of the people necessary to an inquiry.
And we're asking about today, very importantly, signal.
Signal and the person.
Amelia Rowland, the Director of New Media and Cultural Communications, appears to have all the answers, but she's not here.
So I have to ask the obvious, where is Amelia Rowland today?
Does the panel know?
Anybody know where she is?
Thank you for the question, Council Member.
I do not have the answer to that question right now.
Okay, and she has been publicly identified as the official overseeing the influencer operation and the signal group at the center of today's hearing.
